Third-party Maintenance Companies are Killing Your Future ERP Innovation

If you are a company with an ERP solution in-place, you are looking at a very bright future. A future where the newest, latest and greatest technologies are coming at you. Your ERP solutions providers are there to support you in your company's growth. These ERP vendors are building software specifically designed to help your company in this new digital age. The old legacy technology is just outdated, and it needs to be refreshed, just like our phones, our bodies, and our minds.

Unfortunately, there are third-party maintenance companies who are taking organizations down a road that will eventually kill innovation within that organization. These so-called “third-party maintenance companies” are telling you and other organizations like you, that status quo is “good enough”. That is not what true innovative technology and business partners should be doing. “Good enough” is socialism. If you want to be a socialist company with zero updates or innovation for the next 15 years, then you're going to be in trouble.

I deal with these horrible “third-party maintenance companies” every day. I listen to their stories on how they help an organization stay on an old antiquated and outdated SAP system. They tell the companies that they will maintain old systems day in and day out for organizations at 90% savings.

Unfortunately, that 90% of savings is a lie a flat out lie.  No third-party maintenance company can provide these kinds of services legally and ethically. I know who these companies are, their executives and their sales team. And they are slick as snake oil. If you really want your company to grow and you think that your firm is cutting-edge, then you need to stay away from these organizations.

Let me give you an example. I personally know of a third-party maintenance company that took over the support for a company running SAP ECC 6. This company is actively looking to grow and innovate its technology footprint. Unfortunately, because they are under contract with the third partner maintenance company that forces them to continue to use outdated technology. The third-party maintenance company lied to the organization. They will not be able to succeed while they are stuck using old ERP solutions. They will have to continue to rely on the third-party maintenance company to try to create custom code to connect everything while paying more costs and losing out by not having access to new innovative technology.

If they would have stayed on a simple upgrade plan from SAP (yes there's a cost to that), instead of believing this third-party maintenance company, they would be able to upgrade their SAP environments around the globe right now. SAP and other software providers have development teams around the globe, upgrading and updating the software every day of the year. To be so naive to think that a software application like SAP, Microsoft or Oracle should not get a license revenue maintenance because of the updates and upgrades that they are providing to an organization is asinine.

Don’t allow your company to fall further and further behind but signing a long term (up to 15 years) contract with a third-party maintenance company. While there will always be a cost to a licensing and maintenance agreement, staying with old legacy technology will cost more at the end of the day.

Don’t let that slick snake oil salesmen sell you.

Thank you so much for joining us! Can you tell us your “childhood backstory”?
Absolutely I grew up as the oldest son of 4 boys. I was the first to leave for college. My parents were divorced, and I grew up between my mother and my father’s homes. When I left for college, I wanted to go somewhere warm and as far away from my parents as possible. I joke about that now, but at the time it really seemed fitting because I wanted to leave to become a technologist or baseball player.

Can you share the story about what brought you to this specific point in your career?
What brought me to this point in my life was a lot of life experiences. A ton of trial and error. And many times, not trusting others and doing it myself. It took a long time for me to be able to understand the fact that I could trust others which would help grow myself and my business."

Can you tell us a bit more about what your day to day schedule looks like?
Typically, my day starts at 5 a.m. The first thing I do is listen to the news while I’m getting ready. I try to be out the door by 5:30 a.m. because my local radio station plays The Star-Spangled Banner at that time. I can continue to listen to the local news and any national activities going on once I get to the office. I usually have some good time to myself to get ready for my day, go through my notes that I left for myself from the evening prior, and answer any emails that have come in overnight. From that point, I continue my day with a lot of activities with customers and prospects. I meet with my team in the office and staff across the globe with phone call meetings.

BOHH Labs and Approyo Announce OEM Agreement for Enhanced Security within SAP HANA Environment

BOHH Labs, the leading provider of seamless and secure access to data, today announces an OEM agreement with Approyo, a leading enterprise SAP HANA Solutions Provider. The agreement brings a bundled solution that offers SAP customers seamless migration to SAP HANA Cloud environments with a secure method to easily enable access to all enterprise systems for increased business flexibility and productivity.

The market demand to adopt Cloud deployments is rapidly gaining momentum, but security, performance disruption and accessibility are still challenging progression. Under the agreement, Approyo will integrate BOHH’s capabilities to enable better security and access to data stored with SAP HANA and mitigate these setbacks. This will offer their customers better security for their data and business flow to leverage the benefits of SAP HANA and convert real-time analytics into business decisions.

Approyo has been providing solutions powered by SAP HANA®, such as the latest version of SAP S/4HANA®, in the cloud for the last three years. Approyo built an entire platform using the best solutions in the market, helping companies move to SAP HANA quickly and benefit immediately with tailored implementation roadmaps to ensure every organization undergoes a seamless migration.

BOHH Labs brings an easy to implement service that acts as a layer between the user/ application and the back-end data store. BOHH enables total security on all stored data by uniquely providing database or specific file security, removing it from the source and storing it separately without changing the structure, enabling prioritization and control of sensitive data. BOHH’s security service provides full text search capabilities, even on secured data, and supports Bot technology for data to be conveniently accessed through keyboard, text-and-type from any device and voice commands to enhance the access flow to data within the system. This means sensitive and non-sensitive data residing in SAP HANA can easily be searched at once in real-time to extract valuable analytical insights without putting sensitive data that must stay protected at risk by hiding it away for access by authorized users only.

“Approyo is proud to offer this new security solution to our customer base,” said Christopher Carter, CEO of Approyo. “I believe our industry leading SAP Cloud Solutions and BOHH Labs’ award-winning solution recognized in the SAP+Google Cloud Intelligent App Challenge, makes for a unique combination for SAP customers looking to move to the Cloud.”

“This agreement is a great step for everyone involved – joining together with Approyo, we can now help SAP customers increase their business flow through a secure Cloud that allows them access to all of their sensitive documents using one quick search of all their finding requirements,” said Simon Bain, CEO of BOHH Labs. “By partnering with Approyo, we can address customer demands and focus our capabilities on what our enterprise, integrator and reseller customers need to secure access to their business-critical applications and data in the Cloud.”

The joint solution between Approyo and BOHH Labs is addressing the challenges enterprises face migrating to the Cloud and enables SAP customers to leverage the analytics capabilities of SAP HANA, while gaining a secure method to easily access all enterprise systems to quickly find, search and unlock the value of all their data.

Approyo featured on SuperbCrew.com - Simplifying SAP Solutions for All Businesses

Approyo CEO Chris Carter recently sat down with the folks at SuperbCrew to talk about the SAP ecosystem, the future of SAP and Approyo and where the industry as whole is going. To read the full interview, please go to www.superbcrew.com.

Here is an excerpt of the interview:

Q: Chris, tell us more about your solutions?
A: Approyo provides full SAP service technology with extensive capabilities in consulting, solutions architecture, and product procurement, to develop the right solution for our customers. Our SAP HANA Solutions are typically up and running within 2 – 5 days. Our SAP HANA solution, Ignite, encapsulates SAP HANA’s various components into one neat and easy package. Companies have the freedom to either use the entire package or specific components.

Q: You’ve recently been recognized as one of the Rising Entrepreneurs of the Year by The Technology Headlines; could you tell us something more?
A: This was a great honor and a great way to start off 2018. I owe a lot of this honor to my staff and company who helped make 2017 a very special year. This award really shows how much the company and myself has grown and matured throughout the last several years. I’m expecting even better and bigger things in 2018!

Q: Approyo has also been ranked 47th among Top 100 Cloud Services Providers; what does it mean for you and how hard was it to get where you are today?
A: The ranking further solidifies our strategy and mission to become the leading global SAP Cloud Centric Solution provider. It’s not a question of “if” a company will move to the cloud anymore, it’s a question of “when” and “how”. This shift in thinking has helped us reach many clients who need to move their SAP environments to the cloud. When Approyo started, we really had to educate companies about the cloud. After many years of doing this, we are seeing the reward and we are viewed as a trusted advisor.

Q: What are your plans for the future?
A: Growing! Every day I feel we and our staff are growing. We always want to be help and support our customers. We want to grow and help our customer get to the next level.

FoxConn, Welcome to Wisconsin. An open letter from Wisconsin based CEO Chris Carter

You’ve probably heard the big news by now, Foxconn Technology Group, a global technology and electronics manufacturer, is coming to Wisconsin and creating up to 13,000 jobs. The announcement was made earlier this summer by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walk, President Donald Trump and Foxconn Chairman Terry Gou. And the Wisconsin assembly recently passed a bill supporting the move to Wisconsin.

As an owner of a leading SAP technology company based in Wisconsin, I would like to welcome Foxconn to the great state of Wisconsin. I look forward to forging a partnership with your business and continue to help Wisconsin and out industry grow.

I’ve had the pleasure of working in Wisconsin for over 2 decades and started Approyo here in Wisconsin in 2012. In that short time, I’ve grown Approyo by leaps and bounds, being named the Inc. 5000 list 2 years in a row (2016 and 2017). Seeing an industry leading global company like Foxconn make a commitment to Wisconsin is a great sign that the state is heading in the right direction.

Over the years, I’ve grown to enjoy working and having a business in Wisconsin. Wisconsin offers a great environment for businesses to grow. We have lots of great people who are hungry to work and provide for their families. These people have tremendous values and will be a great addition to any organization out there. I’ve been fortunate enough to find great staff throughout Wisconsin with drive and knowledge to help me and my company grow.

Plus, we have clients throughout the state of Wisconsin that we work with every day to ensure that their SAP environments are running as efficiently as possibly. We can offer award winning SAP solutions throughout the state, country and world, just like you have throughout the years.  Foxconn should have no problem finding qualified individuals and companies like Approyo to work with.
An underrated factor that makes Wisconsin a great place to have a business is the location. Since Wisconsin is situated right in the middle of the country, it is easy to fly to the east coast or west coast at any given time. Plus, we are located within a short drive or train ride to Chicago, which has many other easy transportation options.

Seeing a fellow technology company come to Wisconsin and create so many jobs is exciting. We at Approyo have been fortunate to find very qualified SAP and technology experts to work with in Wisconsin.

I can’t reiterate how exciting it is as a business owner, to have a company like Foxconn choose to come to Wisconsin. As a leading SAP provider we look forward to the opportunity to partner with you and your business leaders.  Our local SAP operations can help your company as it extends its footprint in Wisconsin and across the United States. I look forward to all your success and can’t wait to do business together in Wisconsin.
